Our Mission

The Frankfort Fire Fighters Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to charitable, scientific, civic, benevolent, and educational purposes. The Foundation supports the Frankfort Fire Cadet Program, the Frankfort Fire Historical Society, and the community served by the fire district. This support includes but is not limited to purchasing equipment, enhancing member training, contributing to benevolent causes, providing scholarships to local school districts, and sponsoring activities beyond the Foundation’s core mission.

Funding for the Foundation is accomplished through a variety of means. A majority of the funding comes from the Frankfort Fall Festival Carnival which takes place every Labor Day weekend in the Village of Frankfort Illinois. The Carnival has been run by the Frankfort Fire Protection District fire fighter members association since 1971; however, the Frankfort Fall Festival dates back to 1961 when its original name was the “Sauerkraut Days” hosted by the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce. In 1963 it was renamed the “Sauerkraut and Weiner Day” by the Lions Club of Frankfort according to archived meeting minutes and then to the Frankfort Fall Festival as we know it today.

In 2010 The Frankfort Fire Fighters Association was renamed the “Frankfort Fire Fighters Foundation” and in 2018 we were designated a 501(c)(3) organization.
